Virtual manufacturing and its application in foundry production
Introduction to virtual manufacturing
since the 1980s, the increasingly fierce global competition has forced manufacturing enterprises to continuously improve production efficiency, improve product quality, reduce costs, and provide excellent services in order to occupy a place in the market. At the same time, computer technology, computer network technology and information processing technology have also developed rapidly. These conditions make information technology constantly integrate into the traditional manufacturing industry and transform it, which is also the development trend of modern manufacturing industry. After entering the 1990s, advanced manufacturing technology has developed to a higher level. On the basis of the original computer integrated manufacturing (CIMS) and concurrent engineering (CE), the concepts of virtual manufacturing (VM) and virtual enterprise (VE) have emerged. Among them, "virtual manufacturing" has continuously attracted the attention of scientific and technological circles and business circles in recent years, and has become a hot spot of competitive research
virtual manufacturing is based on virtual reality technology. The so-called virtual reality technology refers to the use of computers and peripherals to generate a three-dimensional virtual environment consistent with the real environment, allowing users to view the environment of wood flour as an organic filler of plastic from different angles and viewpoints, and to interact with objects in the environment through auxiliary devices. Virtual manufacturing is a technology that uses virtual reality technology to complete the manufacturing process on the computer. Using this technology, before the actual manufacturing, we can analyze and predict the potential problems of product function, manufacturability, economy and so on, realize product design, process planning, processing and manufacturing, performance analysis, quality inspection and management control at all levels of the enterprise, and enhance the decision-making and control ability at all levels in the manufacturing process. The relationship between virtual manufacturing and actual manufacturing system is shown in Figure 1

characteristics of virtual manufacturing
virtual manufacturing is a technology that integrates computer aided design (CAD), computer aided manufacturing (CAM) and computer aided process planning (CAPP). It completes the manufacturing process in a computer. Because of this, virtual manufacturing has the following main characteristics
the manufacturing model of virtual manufacturing is a computer model. The main work to complete this manufacturing process is to establish the model. Once the model is established, it can continuously interact with it to simulate the production and manufacturing process of various situations. The repeatability of the model is one of the most important characteristics of the virtual manufacturing process, which is different from the actual manufacturing process. It is this characteristic that makes the virtual manufacturing can quickly change the design, process and production process according to different situations, so as to greatly compress the development time of new products, improve the manufacturing quality and reduce the cost
Another feature of virtual manufacturing is that it can be distributed. The personnel and equipment completing virtual manufacturing can be separated from each other in space. Technicians in different places can cooperate to complete the same virtual manufacturing process through networksin addition, virtual manufacturing can also be a parallel process. The simulation of product design, processing process and assembly process can be carried out at the same time, which greatly speeds up the product design process and reduces the trial production time of new products
application field of virtual manufacturing
the application of virtual reality technology in the manufacturing field mainly includes the following aspects:
don't put down the experimental machine due to inaccessible doors or height problems
(1) virtual prototype and product design, that is, design virtual products or parts in the computer
(2) production process simulation (optimization, scheduling), that is, simulation and optimization of the production process of the workshop or section
(3) equipment simulation, that is, offline simulation, dynamic characteristic analysis and Simulation of production equipment such as robots
(4) logistics simulation, namely logistics planning, simulates AGV (automatic handling equipment)
(5) assembly process simulation
(6 when the stress is far less than its tensile strength) visualization of complex data and visual output of numerical simulation results
(7) remote operation of equipment, use computer network to combine spatially dispersed equipment for integrated management and operation, and remote control manufacturing
(8) enhance the communication effect
(9) operation training
the level of virtual manufacturing
the fundamental purpose of virtual manufacturing is to use computers to produce virtual products
the actual manufacturing system can be abstracted into a set of physical systems, information systems and control systems with an output of 18.85 million tons in June. Physical system includes all resources in manufacturing, such as materials, machine tools, robots, fixtures, controllers and operators; Information system includes information processing and decision-making, such as production scheduling, planning and design; The task of the control system is to realize the information exchange between the information system and the physical system
corresponding to the actual manufacturing system, the virtual manufacturing system can be divided into corresponding levels: virtual physical system, virtual information system and virtual control system. According to the different objects faced by different production stages, virtual manufacturing can be divided into three categories: virtual manufacturing with design as the core, virtual manufacturing with production as the core and virtual manufacturing with control as the core. The main goal of virtual manufacturing with design as the core is to optimize product design, optimize process and processing scheme; The main goal of virtual manufacturing with production as the core is to optimize resources, evaluate and verify the selected process; The goal of virtual manufacturing with control as the core is to optimize the manufacturing process controlled by the workshop
